Collection Six
Kept
Kept starts with a feeling.
Have you ever looked at a photograph, or simply seen something familiar, and suddenly found yourself back in a specific moment from another time? Not just remembering where you were, but remembering how it felt to be there.
Those feelings can be fleeting.
Photography gives me a way to hold onto them a little longer. Sometimes the smallest thing in a photograph can bring back everything surrounding it — a place, a person, an evening, or even a version of myself I hadn't thought about in years.
That's what these photographs hold for me.

For Two
Kept
Somewhere along the way, road trips became part of who we are together. We have our own routines, our own jokes, and versions of ourselves that seem to show up whenever we're on the road.
I didn't know it then, but this was where that version of us began.
For Two was taken on our honeymoon road trip through Yellowstone and Colorado. Two copper mugs, the two of us, and the first of many adventures together.

Before
Kept
Looking at this photograph now feels reassuring. I can recognize the version of myself who was excited and nervous about everything ahead, while knowing all the things she couldn't know yet.
Sometimes it's comforting to remember that I've stood in the unknown before, and things have worked out.
I chose Before because this photograph was taken several months before we moved to Colorado. We already knew this would become home, but we were still standing on the other side of everything that came next.

Marin
Kept
When you're growing up somewhere, you don't realize how deeply those places are becoming part of you. The streets, the towns, the people, and the things you pass every day are simply home.
Now, sometimes I ache for those places. Not necessarily because I want to go back, but because they hold versions of my life that exist nowhere else.
Something as ordinary as a bicycle can bring all of that back.
I chose Marin because this photograph holds more than one specific memory for me. It brings together the cities and towns I grew up in, the years I spent there, and the different versions of myself that existed within them.

Another Round
Kept
Some memories carry more weight than others. They can hold love alongside hurt, closeness alongside distance, and versions of relationships that no longer exist in quite the same way.
I can look at this photograph and remember the laughter, the competition, and the comfort of being together without needing to separate those things from everything else.
I chose Another Round for the obvious reference to bowling, but also for what the night gave us: another game, another laugh, another little stretch of time together.

The Ceiling
Kept
Childhood comes back to me in unexpected ways. Sometimes it's a sound or a certain kind of light. Sometimes it's looking up at the clouds and remembering how easily I could disappear into my own imagination.
There are pieces of that version of myself I still recognize. I like being reminded that she never completely went away.
I chose The Ceiling because the clouds brought me back to my childhood bedroom, lying there and staring at the ceiling while my mind wandered.
For a moment, I wasn't looking at the sky anymore. I was looking at that ceiling again.
